Mathias Augustyniak
Mathias Augustyniak (b. 1971, France) is a graphic designer and one half of the Paris-based creative studio M/M (Paris), which he co-founded in 1992 with Michael Amzalag. Together they have developed a practice that operates between graphic design, contemporary art, and cultural production, building a visual language from typography, drawing, photography, and symbol that has been among the most recognizable in the European cultural landscape of the past three decades.
M/M (Paris) has created visual identities and art-directed campaigns, and has produced album artwork, videos, and visual identities. Their work in music, fashion, and publishing has consistently refused the separation between commercial and artistic brief, treating each as a context for formal experiment. Beyond client work, M/M (Paris) has produced autonomous projects in drawing, installation, and publishing. Their work has been exhibited at the Centre Pompidou, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Design Museum in London. Augustyniak and Amzalag have also curated and published extensively, including within the framework of their publishing imprint.
