Emma Becker
Emma Becker (b. 1988, Paris) is a French writer who studied at Sciences Po before devoting herself to literature.
Her debut novel, Monsieur (2011), received attention for its exploration of erotic power and submission. Her second book, La Maison (2019), was the result of two years spent working as a prostitute in a legal German Eros-Center in Berlin — an experience she undertook as a literary project, with the explicit intention of writing about it. The book, which renders her experience from the inside as both participant and observer, generated significant debate in France about the ethics of the investigation; it received the Prix Sade. Monstre (2021) extended her investigation of sexuality, desire, and the body.
